A Courtyard for Weaving Community and an Active Plaza for the City
A replicable urban model based on the power of emptiness.

The Plaza de la Hoja project, awarded first place in a public competition, proposes a replicable urban model—not through its built mass, but through the emphasis on creating community around the concept of emptiness. Here, emptiness is understood as a fundamental way of organizing life, space, landscape, and the rituals of the city, the neighborhood, and the home.

The proposed city model is structured through interconnected voids of different scales, allowing for a continuous relationship with nature and creating thresholds that soften the transition between public and private spaces. This approach offers an opportunity to bring residents back to the urban center, reconfiguring its relationship with the savannah territory and transforming the inner block into a green, soft, and experiential space.
