The project, developed by the Mayor of Bogotá and Colombia’s Ministry of Culture, with the goal of a comprehensive recovery of the city’s center; seeking to protect and make this area sustainable by integrating its 556 hectares to a vision of Colombia in the year 2038.

The Special Project for Management and Protection (PEMP) of the Heritage, Knowledge, Neighborhood, and Centrality Center of Bogotá and Colombia is an innovative initiative that seeks to safeguard and promote the cultural, architectural, and community wealth of Bogotá and its surroundings, within the context of dynamic and sustainable urban development.

This project is based on a comprehensive set of elements, actions, and processes carefully designed to guide the region’s evolution harmoniously and respectfully with its history and identity. Through PEMP, the conservation of the front wings of buildings is prioritized, recognizing their value as witnesses to local history and culture.

The focus of PEMP is not limited solely to architectural preservation but also encompasses the promotion of knowledge and the revitalization of neighborhoods, thereby strengthening social cohesion and the sense of belonging of communities. Active participation of residents and local stakeholders in decision-making is encouraged, ensuring that urban development is inclusive and representative of the needs and aspirations of all citizens.

Furthermore, PEMP aspires to consolidate Bogotá and Colombia’s centrality as centers of innovation, creativity, and economic development while simultaneously preserving their cultural heritage as a fundamental asset for sustainable growth.

In summary, the Special Project for Management and Protection of the Heritage, Knowledge, Neighborhood, and Centrality Center of Bogotá and Colombia represents a visionary commitment to preserving the past, building the present, and preparing the future of the region through comprehensive and participatory urban development management.
