Weaving the university with the historic urban landscape.

As part of the consolidation of the University’s presence in downtown Bogotá, a Special Management and Protection Plan for the cultural heritage site of the Iglesia de la Bordadita was developed to ensure its sustainability and proper adaptation of the heritage to the forward-looking vision that Urosario aims to embody for the country, with its motto “Nova et Vetera.” To this end, the team conducted workshops within the university, with the Ministry of Culture and the PEMP formulation team, interpreting the different needs and achieving a conceptual prefiguration and capacity of various growth scenarios for the campus, serving as the basis for the formulation and approval of the plan. This plan was approved, and the work serves as a roadmap for campus growth planning and the consolidation of an urban piece respectful of heritage yet capable of becoming a future city heritage due to its contemporary approach to the place and the way it addresses the challenge of education through architecture that fosters encounters both within and outside the campus, providing pedagogical landscapes for students, the academic community, and the general public.
