The architectural design for the Paz de Ariporo Library, developed by David Delgado, won first place in a public competition and was selected as one of the ten projects representing Colombia at the exhibition organized by the Pan American Federation of Architects (FPPA) during the Ibero-American Biennial held in Medellín in 2010.

The project is structured through separate volumes that create spatial tension and distinguish different uses. On one side, areas of greater activity are arranged around the arrival plaza; on the other, quieter spaces open toward an outdoor library surrounded by native species. This layout creates a “park of silence” for reading and a plaza for community events.

The program includes a reading room, a play library (ludoteca), internet rooms, a newspaper and magazine library (hemeroteca), a children’s room, and an auditorium overlooking the expansive plains, serving as a scenic backdrop. The design incorporates gardens that define spaces for gathering and concentration, offering a venue that becomes festive on special occasions and a serene retreat in everyday life.
