In 2010, the National University of Colombia launched several studies aimed at improving the integration of its campus with the surrounding city. As part of this effort, the need to activate the campus edges through open sports and cultural spaces for the public was identified.

The Alfonso López Park project emerged in response to this vision: a park that revitalizes a forgotten area, weaving itself into the urban fabric as the first step toward a more open and accessible campus. The proposal seeks to complement the original vision of Fritz Karsen and Leopold Rother, promoting the transformation of a gated campus into an inclusive metropolitan facility.

The master plan includes the design of a swimming pool and a sports building, both conceived as catalysts for community life. Strategically located, the pools were envisioned as the initial phase of future controlled openings to the city.
Although this project was not developed by David Delgado Arquitectos S.A.S., we consider it important to highlight it, as our director, David Delgado, actively participated in its design as part of the project team.
